Fox4KC and the Barigirls Getting All Jacked Up!!

Welcome to the world of jackfruit. We encourage you to use this fruit as a meat replacement as it takes on the flavor and consistency of pulled port or the wonder taste of meatless tacos. To the left are pictures of jackfruit before it is canned and what it looks like inside. Did you know that jackfruit fights cancer, has Vitamin C, antioxidant and phytonutrient properties? Jackfruit can help in weight loss as it is low in calories and fat free as well as reduces blood pressure and contains a high content of potassium. Now your vegan friends will adore you and they have something great to eat at your next BBQ event as well. Here are the recipes for the BBQ Jackfruit Sliders and the Bari Tacos that were made on the May 24th show on Fox4kc. Enjoy!

Be sure to purchase your can of Jackfruit from your local Sprouts Farmers Market.

BBQ JACKFRUIT SLIDERS

1 can of Jackfruit
1 whole garlic clove, chopped
1/3 cup minced onion
1/3 cup Braggs soy sauce
1/4 cup of minced mushrooms
1/3 cup of Liquid Smoke
1/2 cup Bone Broth
1 tsp. Paprika
3 tsp. Bari Basic Blend seasoning
Electrolyte water add as needed to thin if desired

Open can of Jackfruit and empty in blender with or without jack fruit liquid (or drain it and pour bone broth in with jackfruit and blend until minced or finely shredded. Combine Jackfruit mixture, garlic cloves, onion, soy sauce, mushrooms, and Liquid Smoke, paprika and Bari Basic Blend, mix thoroughly. Pour 1/3 cup of Bone Broth in skillet over medium heat, then add mixture and turn down to low heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

JACKFRUIT TACOS

1 can of Jackfruit
1 whole garlic clove, chopped
4 tsp. onion
1/3 cup Braggs soy sauce
1/2 cup Bone Broth
1 packet of your favorite brand of taco seasoning
3 tsp. Bari Basic Blend seasoning
Electrolyte water add as needed to thin if desired

Open can of Jackfruit and empty in blender with or without jack fruit liquid (or drain it and pour bone broth in with jackfruit and blend until minced or finely shredded. Combine Jackfruit mixture, garlic cloves, soy sauce, onion, Bari Basic Blend, taco seasoning, and mix thoroughly. Pour 1/3 cup of Sunflower oil in skillet over medium heat, then add mixture and down to low heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

  1. Saw y’all on Fox 4 this morning. Loved the sliders you made and see the recipe is on your site. What was the bbq sauce you used? Sweet Jerk by? I didn’t get the name of who puts it out and the jar wasn’t shown. Thank you and congratulations on your weight loss. Y’all look amazing!
